In this week’s episode, David and Ian discuss financials going out to all-time highs, a review of August seasonal expectations versus actual performance over the month, the consolidation within the technology sector with industries like semiconductors, an update on precious metals and precious metals miners. They also discuss the areas of industrials that are performing well, like aerospace related companies, and they also discuss the areas abroad that continue to perform well.
Welcome back to The Weekly Trend Podcast. Today is Friday, August 29th. 2025 s and P 500. Currently is sitting at 64 52. I'm David Darling, and I'm here with a guy always ready he needs to be President Ian McMillan.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515I don't know if that was all about jd, but Okay.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516To JD Vance, ready to
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515everyone know just in case. Just in case you know, I mean, just in case in theory, should Trump be deemed unhealthy? I'm ready to go guys. I'm ready to go.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516jd, that wasn't the, that wasn't the question,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515jd, no one asked I
david_1_08-29-2025_105516but he is ready.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Shit on this podcast. Yesterday, number would've been higher
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515We are down a little bit today, but it's early still. Overall, I mean, pretty good, pretty good week I would say. We had a really strong la we had a really strong Friday last week. It's not like we've given any of that back, kind of just still in the same area.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah, and I think some consolidation and semiconductors probably is not a bad idea, and that's such a large waiting now that that's gonna impact an industry like s and p 500. On the flip side, you have. Financials going out to new all time highs. How bearish can that be?
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah. Yeah, I, you know, I think it gives more. Support to the rotation theory. I mean, now you can look at a chart of Nasdaq versus Russell or Nasdaq versus s and p and have the same takeaway. But I think it's important that it's not. Outperformance to the downside. Yeah, I mean we've got definitely some areas getting hit hard today and you have XLF and the banks in general have looked really good. Especially the bigger ones. And then you had Bank of America I know, got to multi-year highs this week. But like your JP Morgan's Goldman, oh, that's been pretty healthy. For a while, regionals still some work to do.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah right. JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, some of the bigger ones looking pretty good. I don't know how bearish you can get if those are looking good. Yes, semiconductors weak this week. This week, but they've had a run and it's okay for that to
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516And you think you see things like equal weight s and p holding its breakout micro caps. Holding, its breakout. Dow Jones holding its breakout. So even though you have one red day, one day does not make a trend. And it's pretty quality information. If these things can, can hold their breakouts and especially, you know, heading into a month like September, which is, you know, we've talked about seasonality. It probably ad nausea in the last four or five episodes and we, it didn't really come to fruition for August. And so you sit up and take notice and if you get. September's notoriously even weaker than August season. Seasonality speaking. And if we hold up here, man, what does that say about what the last part of the year could look like?
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah. It's definitely a grinding market. I mean, there's, there's divergences of plenty. Out there. And you kind of wonder, right, we've had a few little spooks in regards to price action, the la you know, during August, but market found a way to grind higher. I mean, not a ton, but
david_1_08-29-2025_105516spook, you say spooks, you mean volatility not like the
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515yeah. Yeah. I mean, well, we had the end of. We had the gap down on August 1st. And I think that had a lot of people like, oh, here we go. Here we go. Yeah. And then, I mean, we spent all, and literally the next, the entire month just grinding higher. Now we had a, you know, I guess there was a little, like a red week there and, you know, a couple weeks ago, but. That's just the, the market, you know, not if you're waiting for the five, 10% correction to get in. You certainly have not been awarded that yet. In fact, we had new all time eyes yesterday. So I, I mean, pretty, pretty strong market. I mean, when you look at breadth underneath the surface. I was going through some advanced decline lines yesterday.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Let Kate know that you were doing that.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515I did not, it's a secret. I have to tell her I'm sneaking off to the bathroom. Oh, I gotta go outside and fix, I gotta go outside and fix that leaky hose faucet. And then I go outside and hide behind the bushes on my phone. And I look up ad charts.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Advanced decline charts. Babe, I have a confession. I've, I've been looking at breath charts.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515You know, when I tell you I go downstairs and I to play video games, I don't,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516I'm
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515but yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Go.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah. I mean, you look at like, I mean, NY like it's, it's healthy. I'm not saying every, you know, not every day can be a big green handle. I, I, it, it does feel a little lethargic. I mean, you can definitely go through some charts like, I hate to say this, but even like a Palantir. It just feels a little like we're running outta steam which is fine. Right. It's kind of like when your football team is 14 and oh, and then they lose one and you're like, oh, this sucks. But then you're like, eh, still 14 and one. It's kind of like a lot of these strong momentum stocks. Not keeping up the last few weeks. They haven't been terrible,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Right,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515but definitely more sideways. So we'll see. It'll be interesting to see if we get some shifts. In momentum and kind of the sub-industry ratings within the ETF. I think that'll be cool to see.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah. No, it will be. And I, and I, think that's a, a great segue to highlight the adaptive select ETF listed on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker A DPV. Which helps investors access to the most prevalent factors in market's, momentum and relative strength using proprietary identification methods. The adaptive Select ETF attempts to own the strongest 25 large cap stocks when the market is in an uptrend. since not all market environments are the same, adaptive select seeks to prevent extended declines by moving to short-term treasury bills and cash during long-term market Downtrends investors can find out more. Including how to invest in A DPV by visiting ad etf.com or calling 1-833-880-FIVE 200. Investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal ad pvs distributed by Quasar Distributors, LLC. And I think that's interesting what you just said, there, Ian, regarding maybe some tilts. You know, I we could talk a little bit about. And not necessarily talk our book. All of it would be public information. You can go on the website and see the positioning. Did you have something you were thinking of specifically as far as tilt there or not necessarily?
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515No, just, I mean, I would say nothing in regards to that has changed a ton. I mean, it's still you know, actually Dave, now I talk about, I take that back because. The ETF actually doesn't have a huge waiting detect,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Correct, and that started happening about what, four or five weeks ago.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515I was gonna say a month ago. Yeah. And we wrote about it in the the July recap that came out early. I think it's like 11% tech.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Correct.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515be off on that, but it's somewhere around there. Right. And now you've got the s and p. At over 30% tech. So, and yet it's been able to keep up with the market.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah, and, and those listing, you can go to adp v etf.com. You can go to about, go to the news, read the July recap, which talks about less tech and more torque. And yeah, in there it talks about. The holdings recap and waitings and how it is and what it looks like. And it, yeah, it's, it's interesting to see that shift that took place a few months ago away from tech. And here we are seeing some areas of tech like semiconductors consolidate. I don't want to sit here and raise alarm bells that the sky has falling because semiconductors are consolidating, but it is an interesting. Catch by the strategy. Good
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515We've had, and we've had good, there's been others. Random stuff that has, now, we've talked about gold and gold miners for a while
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yep.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515on here. They continue to look pretty good. In fact, I think gold is, I mean, gold looks like it's going to go the way that most trend followers would tell you, right? So we had this consolidation going since mid-April. Breaking Outta that we talked about a couple weeks ago that gold miners themselves had already broken higher outta the consolidation. So that's probably a decent clue that market participants also think gold is going higher. So we've got that confirmation. Home builders have been strong the last few weeks.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516And even look at, I mean, if you look at GDX, the ETF for gold miners, like we're on the verge. We're not there. But on a new monthly closing high for that ETF time, we're right there.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Has never happened in a bear market. For gold. For gold miners,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516and then you look at, like, look at the silver miners
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515silver miners look good.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516on a absolute basis, pretty, pretty doggone good. So that, you know, that, that is interesting, to see those do so well and you gotta sit up and take no notice. And in, in some cases it's. You can't say basic materials overall, when you look in the materials space and you see miners doing that and even some rare earth metals or green metals doing well, it's a theme. A theme. You
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Definitely a theme.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516attention.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515I would say the aerospace space theme continues to be very strong,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah, space te like, I wanna say telecom, but what we're really talking about is like
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515so yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516satellite communications.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Ericson. This is not Ericson from 1998.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Remember those? Oh.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah, that was the first ever Panthers stadium sponsor was Ericsson.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Really?
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was the first one before they were Ban of America Stadium. I'm pretty sure it was Ericsson.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Wow. Wild things change, man. Yeah. So gold. Gold and gold miners. Rare earth, metals, space. Anything else? What else you, you touched base on home builders.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Home builders Jets, cars. Well, A DPV bought Ford and that's green today and a pretty nasty day for the indices. So yeah, you see those, I mean, pockets of. Yeah, I mean, they don't do a lot for, they don't do a lot for the major indices. Right. Because, I mean, everyone knows it's, I mean, tech is really kind of the tailwind or headwind
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Right.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515depending on,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516waiting. It's
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516waiting.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Foreign stocks have continued to be very strong, China. China is green today.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516China, I can't believe you said that. That's very offensive.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515It is. I mean, yeah, there's, it's, you mentioned silver, gold energies. Energy is, I mean, it's been pretty beaten down, but it's somewhat of an intriguing relative chart. Maybe a failed breakdown going on there. It's still pretty terrible long term relative chart,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Right.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515don't get excited. But
david_1_08-29-2025_105516And the largest waiting there, I find fascinating. The, the ExxonMobil, when you look at the absolute chart and how that has been consolidating above prior highs from 2014 and 2008, it's been consolidating since
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515we're almost,
david_1_08-29-2025_10551624, and almost on year three,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515I would say we're almost like a monthly away from three years.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah, I mean, that's. That's a really nice consolidation to hold the highs like this,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515What if it's a top? What if this is like a big, it could be around the top man.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516could be, could be,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Maybe we're gonna go full solar.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516tech technicians would be saying consolidations should
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Pretty nice.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516in the direction of the primary trend, and so it'd be really great information if it did break down. And you bring up the relative chart, like if you look at XOM versus S and P, you know, that's been discounted since beginning of 2023 on a relative basis and kind of an interesting weekly candle this week.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516You know? Do we see, is that the false breakdown that you were just talking about? Maybe because I mean, if energy's gonna go, it's gotta have things like ExxonMobil, Chevron. Pulling its weight and even, I mean, look at Chevron's absolute chart. Was that a false breakdown? Three weeks, four weeks ago? My goodness.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515kinda like indu, like industrials, man, we gotta have some of these. We have some bigger players going.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515I mean, I sent a tweet out a few weeks ago. It would be a great time to be industrial's portfolio manager 'cause there is a lot of relative strength. But yeah, like your caterpillars and stuff, don't do a ton. Caterpillar is only too bad, looks better than broad industrials, I guess.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516but even, I mean, what I find a little bit fascinating is year to date. I is the best performing sector.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Golly, I would've lost that bet a trillion times.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yes. So your your best performing sectors, year to date, industrials, communication services, technology. Your worst performing sectors. Real estate, discretionary, staples, healthcare.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515I was wondering, I guess because of the aerospace thing, is that how industrials is doing it?
david_1_08-29-2025_105516I mean, let's take a look. look inside industrials, right, we can do a top down If you look year to date, your strongest contributors general Electric, Renova. And I believe that is
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Oh yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516that's a
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yep,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516that's a space thing
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515yep. Maybe they're, maybe we're all getting jets.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516That'd be cool. Take a rocket to work.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515That's what we're, that's what we're pricing in.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah. It's a lot of, it's, it's a lot of aerospace aerospace and defense. Uber's in here. Not
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Uber's having a decent here.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516not having a bad year,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516but definitely. Definitely a aerospace and defense theme out of industrials. And you look at the, you look at the defense like missile and shield
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Oh my gosh.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516so that doesn't really scream risk off if we're liking satellites and things like that.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Solar's been tan. Tan's been pretty strong lately
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yep.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515on a relative basis, I guess. Trying. Yeah,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516wouldn't that be something if, if
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515did. It had a good during Trump's first term.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516first term is the last
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516of his first term that was rip roaring. It's almost like the market is a future
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515It literally tan, literally peaked. Now, I guess you could say the whole market did January, 2021.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Well, no, it was until 22. So you had literally, so solar peaked
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Inauguration.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515inauguration of Biden.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yep.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Got whacked and then is now back on an upstream with Trump in office. Isn't that fascinating? Hmm.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Markets, future discounting mechanisms. We get so wrapped up in the day-to-day news cycle that we can't see past our faces to future discounting. It's wild. Wild to me.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515What about Bitcoin? Bitcoin, man, come on. What are we doing here? Bitcoin. And it's below a relative 200 day now. So that needs to have an eye kept on it for all your trend followers out there.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Mm-hmm. And I find, I find it interesting, Ethereum's cooled off a bit, but it's, it's when you look at the relative chart versus. Bitcoin, it's holding up just fine. So there's still, there's still some opportunities out there in crypto, but
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah. And.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516it's a fair, it's a fair point. I mean, Bitcoin is the largest capped
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Still above one. What is this? Like 1 0 7, 1 0 8. These December 24 highs and this, I mean we just, you know, in context, we were just at 120 3002 weeks ago. They've walked this down pretty. Pretty controlled. I mean, this has not been a waterfall. I'm not saying it can't go further. I mean, overall, if you were to pull up a weekly chart of Bitcoin, you, I mean, it's fine. This is just a retest of a pretty logical area.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Right.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Sucks when they do it this way. Especially, and don't take me to all time highs and then yank it back. That's, that's a tease. But hey, I can say the market as a whole has been doing, right. We see a lot, we've seen a lot of that in equities,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516True.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515just like the maybe an all time high yesterday. Trends still strong, but.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Well, and I, you know, it's, it's interesting you look at Bitcoin seasonality. August and September are by far the worst seasonal months
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Oh, okay.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516So matching some seasonality here. I don't think we get to be uber surprised. And I'm not using the rainbow chart.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Oh yeah. Got out the rainbow.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516I'm using the, the actual data on the past 12 years of information that we have, that August. August is by far. It's only up 25% of the time, and on average it's down 1.5. In September, it's up 36% of the time and its average is down 4.8.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Kimberly Bitcoin's only 12 years old.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah, I mean, it makes
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Fascinating.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516kind of high beta, right? Acting like a 12-year-old
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516kinda all over the place. Still gotta give it timeouts.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515It is pretty, yeah, it is not, it's not slow and calm and cool and collected like gold yet.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Oh, you're gonna fire people up. Digital gold versus the The young man versus the old man.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah, the, I mean, the old man is a lot more better behaved.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515I'm not saying he's as exciting. And you catch the young, young whipper snapper on a good day. It's fun. But yeah, gold, gold continues to look great. You know, I've shared the thesis if you, if, and I think we talked about it on here at one point, if you take a portfolio of 50% Nasdaq, 50% gold. Very, very, very high correlation to Bitcoin. So that makes me wonder, I think about that sometimes, or like backing into, you know, if, if NASDAQ is gonna sell off, well in theory, you know, according to that correlation could be tough. There's lots of different ways to think about it.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516do you, when do you think about that? Do you think about that after seeing your prayers at night? Or do you like, is it, is it
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Mow the yard. Mowing the yard.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516or, yeah, that's a good time to think about it.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Honey, your lines on the lawn are a little squiggly
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Oh yeah. That was that five minute period.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516I'm thinking about, but you know what? You look at a gold versus Bitcoin chart. That is an interesting, are we building out a, a, a pretty large base there?
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Boy, wouldn't that be something? Wouldn't that mean that is,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516the Boomer coin outperforming,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515see, how do you look at a chart like that and say that it's random? Two, two assets and their relationship continues to have inflection points at the same,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Same spot
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515same, same. It's fascinating the the memory that the market has,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516for sure.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515but yeah, I mean, gold over Bitcoin, gosh, it's. It could be something.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516It could be. And even if you like, know, I don't know if you wanna look at you could e I'm, I'm guessing you could probably look at GDX versus miners.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515What do you use for crypto dap?
david_1_08-29-2025_105516I was thinking dap, I thinking, I was thinking DAP might be a good one. You could look at it. Let's take a look. Well, maybe,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Maybe.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516maybe. Maybe it's gold miners over crypto miners. We'll see.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515sure. I mean, again, I'm not saying it's cool. I'm not saying it's the most fun. But you have to try and make money and outperform. So, I mean, I'm bad. Gold miners look good against a lot of stuff.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yes, they do. I mean, gonna have a fresh new four year
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516weekly closing high versus s and p, not too shabby.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516What do you got? What do you got for your three day weekend? We got Labor Day weekend. We rest from our
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Labor Day
david_1_08-29-2025_105516What do you got going on?
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515boy, Dave, I cannot tell you how excited I am. Gamecocks kicking off in Atlanta
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Okay.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515will be there.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516You're going.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515We're going we're meeting up with one other. Well, we've got, like, we've got like three or four pit stops at different tailgates we need to somehow make on Sunday. So,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Good luck.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515yeah, I know. And it's gonna, it's in Atlanta. So yeah, we gotta figure that out.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Just you and
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515but we'll,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516taking, are
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515it's not. Kids are getting dropped off at n and Grandpa's house. And then they will stay.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516I love me some Nana and grandpa
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515They're amazing.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516n Nana stays on top of me on X. She, she makes sure,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515see? Yeah. Yep. What what about you?
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Nothing crazy. I mean, I'm gonna enjoy the market closed on Monday. Have first. College soccer game of the season tonight. Gonna go watch my daughter play.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515And tell them what other nice. I'm put an award. What nice gesture your daughter was given by her teammates.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah, she's got, she's got some leadership responsibility. She's gonna be a captain on the team as a sophomore. I think that's quite an endorsement. As I told her, she shouldn't take it lightly. Leadership is a huge responsibility, so I'm proud of her. She's more than capable. But pretty exciting. And then we're gonna head to Minnesota
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Be careful.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516To, to cheer on another game that's happening there, another soccer game. But it's, yeah, it's football season's here.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Oh yeah, false soccer.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Mm-hmm. It's fun.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Michael Parsons got traded. Are the Packers fans and all the Packers fans at the office, they seem pretty happy. What a terrible trade.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Like I got out, I got outta soccer practice and my phone was blowing up with all my packer friend buddies, you know, and I'm a Minnesota guy. I'm I'm a Viking fan. But yeah, the Michael Parsons good for him. I mean, he got paid big, big money for non quarterback and
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Dude, that NFC North is
david_1_08-29-2025_105516stacked.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515dude's stacked poor bears. Oh my God.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515They're like the low team out.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516yeah, well, and I, I kind of feel like they should be okay. Like, I mean, Caleb, I guess Caleb's having a good camp and so, but I
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515no. That
david_1_08-29-2025_105516the
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515looks class.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516in,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515You can't paint your fingernails and be a good quarterback. Wear skirts.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516a
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515He's weird
david_1_08-29-2025_105516you know, my daughter's paint their nails. I'm not sure that I'm cool if my quarterback
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515and wear skirts.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah. Kind of weird.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515You can't have your start. You can't have QB one out there. Being weird.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yep. Yeah. I don't know if I don't, is every team in the N FFC North gonna go four and four
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Oh,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516the division?
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515well, didn't you guys get both wild card slots last year?
david_1_08-29-2025_105516That sounds right.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515So you had, yeah. So you had three teams in the playoffs last year? I feel like.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516We had three. Yep. It's a stack division. It's gonna be interesting to see how that, how that plays off. Who do who, who do the Gamecocks have? Who are you guys
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Virginia Tech. So pretty. Yeah, I mean, it's a good, it's a fun season opener. You're playing another P four team. We'll see. I mean, Virginia Tech has had a pretty rough, pretty rough off season. I think they lost 30 guys to the portal and they replaced both their coordinators. Yeah, they've got, so we'll see. Buts Gamecocks are, we were at the season opener last year against Old Dominion and it was an nail biter. So Gamecocks tend to not be great, but there's a lot of hype around the Gamecocks this year.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516A quarterback.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Quarter. I mean, arguably the top quarterback and the top defensive end in the country. So we gotta, we gotta make it happen this year. We've got to make it happen. This is the year to make the playoff, because I don't know if we're gonna get another shot at it.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Yeah,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Gotta put it all together.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516and V vt Virginia Tech. I don't even know what a hokey is, but I, it's an interesting draw for your first game because. So how do you scout against that?
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yep.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516it's still be kid, right? Be
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yep. Shane's there. So I think everyone, of course Frank will be there. I'm, I, I assume he will be. I don't know why it wouldn't be.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Meisters over there.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515yeah. Yeah. Definitely a lot of Beamer ball going on. Good. A very good special teams. Yeah, we'll see. I it I'm very excited for, I'm just, I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve. I've been excited all week, so, and my wife is very, very good at neutral site games. She is like five in one at neutral site games for South Carolina. So,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516is this on a spreadsheet? Are you tracking this?
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515but, well, we used to go to a lot of games in Charlotte.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Okay.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515When we lived in Northern Virginia. So yeah, she's, she's a very good track record. At one point she was like four and oh, at neutral site games and oh and three at South Carolina Home games.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516So uninvited to the home games.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Which is terrible. 'cause those are the best, those are the ones you wanna go to. But we got her over that hump. I think she's got a 500 record at home now.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Okay. Whew.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Yeah,
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Okay, good for the marriage.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515it is good.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Excellent. Well, Ian, I always appreciate doing these with you. I think, you know, a quick summary is could you see semiconductors consolidate here for a while? We still have risk on areas like aerospace. We talked a little bit about international, but you know, if, if people want to hear more about that, they can listen to last week's episode. But still remains a, a risk on environment. September is coming up here is notoriously weak, but we said that about August and that didn't necessarily happen. So we'll see. We'll see where September leads us a close to another month and can't believe that we've got not that long till Christmas. Can I say that?
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Oh my gosh, dude. Yeah. Four months
david_1_08-29-2025_105516Wild,
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515third trimester.
david_1_08-29-2025_105516wild. But I appreciate you doing these. And if you're listening to this and you appreciate it, share it with your friends, family, give us a high ranking on your platform or choice. That means a lot to us.
ian_1_08-29-2025_115515Have a great weekend everyone.
